THE HISTORY OF THE“ROYAL OAK”
In the 17th century Prince Charles II, having lost his battle with Cromwell’s army, was saved by an oak tree in Boscobel Wood. And so, when he regained his crown, out of respect for the tree he named it “the Royal Oak.”
